Canceling a Task
If a task was created by mistake, duplicated, or is no longer needed, you can cancel it to remove it from your active task list. Canceling a task does not delete it from OwlOps. The task and its history are retained for future reference.
Canceling a task does not delete it from OwlOps. The task and its history are retained for future reference.
1. Find the task
Go to Tasks and locate the task you want to cancel.
Using the Quick Action menu
If you have permission to close tasks from the Quick Action menu, click the three dots (⋮) on the task
2. Select Close.

Don't see the Close option?
The actions available in the Quick Action menu depend on your OwlOps permissions. If Close isn't available, open the task's full details or contact your OwlOps administrator if you believe you should have permission to close or cancel tasks.
The Close Task window will open. Under Close As, select Canceled.
Add a note
Enter a brief explanation in Notes to document why the task is being canceled.
For example:
- Duplicate task
- Created by mistake
- Work no longer required
Adding a note makes it easier for anyone reviewing the task history later to understand why it was canceled.

3. Submit
Review the information you've entered and click Submit.
The task will now have a Canceled status and will no longer appear as an open task.
You're all set!
The canceled task is removed from your active task list but remains available in OwlOps for future reference.
